    BACKWASH - ISSUE ONE

160 pages, perfect bound, and printed in full colour on FSC approved uncoated 120gsm paper in the United Kingdom.

Backwash Issue One is a surf anthology featuring Tom Doidge-Harrison on shaping guns, Candice O'Donnell interviews waterwoman Leah Dawson, the Hot Buttered board that Joel Fitz rode in Litmus resurfaces, Shane Dorian makes a cameo. It's Easkey Britton on social change, Tom Lowe's utter commitment, Sergio Villalba's perfect renditions of a world less ordinary, Jack Johns turning his hand to the 0s and 1s. Mickey's weathered eye and Fergal's perspective on not riding in planes, William Finnegan weaving maxed-out Honolua through the pages, Grace O'Sullivan of Greenpeace and Alex Dick-Read on being a surfer.

Backwash is a glorious, chaotic ensemble of surfing how we see it. The core of Issue One's 160 pages is Ireland and for this reason we are planting one tree in County Clare for every copy that we sell. This is the heart of Backwash, what is left behind when the wave recedes.

Backwash is woven together by David Beckitt, James Bowden, Calum Creasey, Dan Crockett, Noah Lane, Al Mackinnon, Chris McClean and Matt Smith.
